Zsigmondy Promenade and Park

The development of the spa began in the mid-1820s, shortly after the healing properties of its sulfurous water were accidentally discovered. The first bath building was designed in a classical style, and the adjoining hotel welcomed guests with 28 rooms.
Soon, the area was landscaped, with walking paths laid out over approximately 40 acres, trees and shrubs planted, and sculptures placed along the walkways. The first wells, which brought the karst water to the surface, were designed by mining engineer Vilmos Zsigmondy. The ancient park located south of the spa was named after him, where numerous works of art and comfortable benches await those seeking relaxation.
